Word Documents

Specialists read and edit .docx files in your workspace—find-replace, template filling, and structural changes—with a dry run offered first so you can check the result before anything is saved.

What your specialists can do

Add a .docx file to your cloud desktop and a specialist can read it, summarize sections, restructure content, and make targeted edits—replacing placeholder text, filling out a template with your data, reordering sections, or adding new ones. For template filling and broad find-replace operations, ask for a dry run first: the specialist shows you what would change before writing the final file. This is the same workflow you'd use to prep a contract or proposal by hand, just without the manual scroll-and-click.

How to connect it

  1. Upload or save the .docx file into your workspace.
  2. Reference it by name in chat, or attach it to the thread.
  3. For template filling or bulk find-replace, ask for a dry run first, review the preview, then confirm the final save.

Examples

  • “Open contract.docx, do a dry run replacing every {{client_name}} placeholder with Acme Corp, and show me the result before saving.”
  • “Fill template.docx with the data in this table—dry run only for now.”
  • “Add a Risks section after Scope in proposal.docx with these three short paragraphs.”
  • “Compare proposal-v1.docx and proposal-v2.docx and list what actually changed between them.”

Honest limits

  • Complex styling, embedded objects, and unusual layouts may not round-trip perfectly—review the output before sending it onward.
  • Tracked changes and comments may need manual review after an edit rather than being handled automatically.
  • A dry run previews the change but isn't a substitute for reading the final file yourself on anything client-facing.
  • Very large or heavily nested documents (long tables, deeply nested lists) are worth breaking into smaller edits rather than one sweeping request.
Tip: always ask for a dry run on template filling or find-replace across a long document—it's the fastest way to catch a mismatched placeholder before it reaches a client.

Common questions

What does a dry run actually show me?
A preview of the changes a specialist is about to make—like which placeholders would be replaced and with what—before anything is written to the file.

Can specialists handle older .doc files, not just .docx?
This works with .docx files; older .doc files may need converting to .docx first.
