Phase 1 posts covered installing CloudAxis on iPhone, WhatsApp alerts, and managing agents from your phone. You already know agents save output to a persistent workspace on your isolated cloud computer. Phase 2 is the operational layer: the Files App is where those outputs live on touch — and it behaves differently from every file manager you have used on iOS or Android.
Open the Files App in three taps
Agent output lives on the cloud, not in your camera roll.
From your home screen, tap the CloudAxis icon (the one you added via Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen). The bottom dock appears — same layout on iPhone and Android. Tap Files, the folder icon, usually third from the left. You land in ~/files/, the root of your agent workspace.
Folder structure is predictable once you see it once:
~/files/reports/— CSVs, weekly summaries, competitor pricing exports~/files/generated-images/— screenshots, DALL-E outputs, social graphics~/files/[agent-name]/— per-specialist folders (e.g.~/files/research-agent/)~/files/uploads/— files you uploaded from your phone for agents to use
Marcus runs a three-person ecommerce consultancy in Austin. His Content agent dropped client-newsletter-draft.docx into ~/files/reports/ at 6:58am. He opened WhatsApp, read the summary, then spent four minutes searching the iPhone Files app (Apple's system file manager) before realising CloudAxis Files is inside the CloudAxis PWA — not mixed with iCloud Drive. One tap on the home screen icon, one tap on Files, one tap on the doc. Twenty-two seconds.
Insider detail: tapping a path in a WhatsApp message does not deep-link into the Files App yet. Copy the filename, open CloudAxis from your home screen, tap Files, use the search bar at the top — type competitor-prices and the file surfaces without folder drilling. Spotlight search on desktop (Cmd+K) has no mobile equivalent; the Files App search bar is the substitute.
What you can preview on phone (and what you cannot)
Not every extension opens inline. Know the split before you pinch-zoom a blank screen.
CloudAxis shipped touch-optimised inline editors in June 2026. On mobile, tap a file once to preview. Supported inline on phone:
- CSV — spreadsheet grid, scroll horizontally, tap a cell to edit, tap Save in the top bar
- XLSX — sheet tabs at the bottom, cell editing works; wide sheets need horizontal scroll
- DOCX / Word — paragraph editing, find-and-replace, save back to the same path
- JSON — syntax highlighting, inline lint markers for invalid syntax
- PDF / PPTX — read-only preview, swipe to change pages; no inline slide editing on mobile
- PNG, JPG, WEBP — full-screen image preview, pinch to zoom
- TXT, MD, HTML — plain text preview with scroll
Files that download to your device instead of inline preview: anything over 100MB, most video files (MP4, MOV), and some archive formats (ZIP). The Files App shows a download icon — tap it, the file saves to your phone's local storage via the browser download handler. On iPhone, find it in Safari Downloads or the Files app (system) under "On My iPhone."
Priya, account manager at a six-person agency in Toronto, previewed competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv on her iPhone 15 between client calls. Three price cells were wrong — stale URLs from a competitor redesign. She fixed them in the grid, hit Save at 11:14am, and the Research agent's 7:00am Tuesday duty read the corrected file. No laptop. No re-upload. The agent picked up her edits because the path never changed.
Insider detail: the 100MB preview limit is a mobile rendering constraint, not a storage limit. Your cloud computer holds the full file either way. For a 140MB agent export, the WhatsApp summary with the top three findings is faster than waiting for a download on hotel WiFi — open the full file on desktop when you are back at a desk.
File types on phone vs desktop: honest comparison
Phone reads. Desktop restructures.
| File type | Phone (Files App) | Desktop | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSV (under 100MB) | Grid preview, single-cell edits, save | Wider columns, faster bulk edits | Phone for fixes, desktop for surgery |
| DOCX draft review | Read, light paragraph edits, approve | Heavy restructuring, track changes mindset | Phone to approve, desktop to rewrite |
| PDF report | Read-only preview, screenshot a page | Same read-only; more screen area | Either for reading |
| PNG screenshot | Pinch-zoom, share sheet, AirDrop | Same file, drag to email | Phone — built for forward-to-client |
| ZIP / large export (>100MB) | Downloads to device; no inline preview | Downloads or previews depending on size | Desktop |
| JSON config | Edit with lint; thumb typing is slow | Full keyboard, easier multi-line edits | Phone for one-key fixes only |
Verdict in one line: For reading and approving agent output, use your phone. For restructuring a workbook or editing a 2,000-word draft, open the same path on desktop — it is one file, two screens, zero sync.
Download, share, and send to clients
Preview is step one. Getting the file off the cloud is step two.
Inside any file preview on mobile, look for the action bar at the top:
- Download — saves a copy to your phone (browser download folder)
- Share — opens the native share sheet: AirDrop, iMessage, email attachment, Slack, WhatsApp (to a contact, not back to your agent)
- Copy link — generates a time-limited share link if your plan supports external sharing (Growth and above)
On iPhone: after previewing competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv, tap Share → AirDrop to your account manager's Mac, or Messages to text one screenshot-worthy row to a client. Total time from home screen to forwarded proof: about thirty seconds if you know the path.
On Android (Chrome PWA): tap Share → pick Gmail, Slack, or "Save to Drive." Same file, same path on the cloud computer — you are exporting a copy, not moving the original.
Jonah, solo founder in Denver, screenshots a single pricing row from the CSV grid and iMessages it to a prospect before his 10am call. He never downloads the full file. The prospect sees the number; the agent keeps the full dataset at ~/files/reports/ for next week's comparison duty.
Insider detail: sharing from the Files App sends a copy. The agent's canonical file stays at the original path. If you edit a downloaded copy in Excel on your phone and email it back to yourself, the agent does not see those changes. Edit in place inside CloudAxis Files, or re-upload to ~/files/uploads/ and tell the agent the new path in Chat.
Edit in place so tomorrow's duty picks it up
Download-edit-reupload is the old workflow. June 2026 killed it.
The loop that actually works on phone:
- Open CloudAxis → bottom dock → Files
- Navigate to
~/files/reports/competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv(or search the filename) - Tap the file — grid opens
- Tap a cell, fix the value, tap Save (top-right)
- Close the preview — done
Your Research agent's next scheduled duty opens that exact path. No version drift. No "final-v2-ACTUAL-final.csv" sitting in Downloads.
For Word docs: tap client-newsletter-draft.docx, edit a paragraph, Save. Content agent reads the same file when its publish duty fires. For JSON: fix a malformed key, lint clears, Save.
Lena, who runs a four-person growth agency, corrected a competitor URL in the CSV from her iPhone 14 on a tram at 8:41am. Tuesday's 7:00am scan used her fix. She did not open her MacBook until 2pm — for a browser login issue, not for file edits. That split is the whole mobile vs desktop argument in one action.
Insider detail: mobile saves are immediate — there is no "Save and sync" delay. The file is on your cloud computer the moment you tap Save. If you have the same file open on desktop in another tab, refresh the preview to see phone edits. Conflict resolution is last-save-wins; do not edit the same cell from two devices simultaneously.
Find files by agent, date, or duty output
Folder names follow agent logic, not calendar logic.
Three reliable ways to locate output without desktop Spotlight:
- Agents App → specialist → Recent files — tap the agent in the bottom dock's Agents icon, open the specialist card, scroll to recent output. Tap a filename to jump straight into Files App preview
- Files App search bar — type part of the filename (
competitor-prices,newsletter-draft). Works across folders - WhatsApp path — duty summaries include the path. Read it, then search that filename in Files App. Example from this morning:
CloudAxis · Research Agent
✅ Morning competitor scan complete (7:02 AM)
3 price changes detected:
• RivalCo annual: $588 → $468 (-20%)
• MarketLeader: unchanged
• NewEntrant: $29/mo SMB tier added
📎 competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv → ~/files/reports/
Copy competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv into Files search. Faster than tapping through three folder levels with one hand.
A nine-person agency in Manchester names duties with dates in the filename on purpose — client-acme-weekly-2026-07-21.pdf — because the Files search bar matches partial strings. Their account managers never memorise folder trees. They memorise naming conventions.
Insider detail: pipeline handoffs use file paths, not notifications. The Research agent drops a CSV at ~/files/reports/competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv; the Content agent's Wednesday duty reads that path. If you move or rename a file from mobile, update the duty path in Agents App → specialist → Duties, or the next agent in the chain opens an empty path. Rename carefully.
Upload files from your phone for agents to use
Agents read what you drop in ~/files/uploads/.
Sometimes the flow reverses — you have a photo, PDF, or spreadsheet on your phone that an agent needs:
- Open Files App → navigate to
~/files/uploads/(create the folder if it does not exist — tap New folder) - Tap Upload (plus icon, bottom-right on mobile)
- Pick from camera roll, Files (system), or take a photo
- File lands at
~/files/uploads/your-filename.ext - Open Chat → tell the specialist: "Use the file at ~/files/uploads/invoice-scan-july.pdf for today's analysis"
Browser agent duties can also save screenshots to ~/files/generated-images/ — those flow the opposite direction, from agent to you. Upload is you to agent.
Sofia, ecommerce operator in Barcelona, photographs a supplier invoice at a trade show, uploads it to ~/files/uploads/ from her iPhone 16, messages her Accounting agent in Chat. By the time she boards the flight, the agent has a summary CSV in ~/files/reports/ — she previews it in Files App at 30,000 feet (spotty WiFi, but the file preview is cached once loaded).
Insider detail: uploads count against your plan's storage fair-use, not AI credits. Large video uploads on mobile chew bandwidth — compress or wait for WiFi. Photos under 10MB upload in under five seconds on LTE from our testing on iPhone 15 and Pixel 8.
When WhatsApp is faster than opening Files
Five seconds beats thirty seconds. Know which channel to use.
Not every duty output needs a file open. Route by question:
- "Did it run? What changed?" → read the WhatsApp summary on your lock screen. Five seconds. No app open.
- "Show me the exact number / row / paragraph" → Files App preview. Thirty seconds.
- "Send proof to a client" → Files App → screenshot or Share sheet. Forty-five seconds.
- "Fix a value for tomorrow's run" → Files App → edit in place → Save. Ninety seconds.
- "Something failed" → Agents App red badge first; Files App second if you need the error log at
~/files/[agent-name]/logs/
Configure which duties send WhatsApp summaries in the notification setup guide — route only high-signal duties to WhatsApp, not all seventeen daily checks. Alert fatigue makes you stop reading summaries, which makes you stop trusting Files App paths when they arrive.
Tom, Leeds ecommerce founder, ignored Files App for two weeks because every duty pinged WhatsApp. He filtered to three duties: price changes, publish failures, and anomaly flags. Now he reads every summary. When one includes a path, he opens Files — because it means something.
Insider detail: WhatsApp messages arrive even if the PWA is not installed — they go to WhatsApp, not the CloudAxis app. Files App requires opening CloudAxis from your home screen. Many founders read WhatsApp on the lock screen and only open Files when the summary says "3 price changes" and they need the row, not the headline.
The thirty-second file check-in workflow
Home screen → Files → search → screenshot → send. Done.
Bookmark this sequence for between-meeting checks:
- 0:00 — WhatsApp summary arrives. Read headline. If "unchanged" or "no anomalies," stop. Star and move on.
- 0:05 — If numbers matter: tap CloudAxis home screen icon.
- 0:08 — Bottom dock → Files.
- 0:12 — Search bar → type filename from WhatsApp (e.g.
competitor-prices-2026-07-21). - 0:18 — Tap file → grid or doc preview loads.
- 0:25 — Screenshot the row, or tap Share → iMessage/Slack.
- 0:30 — Lock phone. Agent keeps running on the cloud per its duty schedule.
This workflow assumes home-screen install from the iPhone guide or Android guide. Browser-tab CloudAxis (no home-screen install) works but adds ten seconds of Safari chrome and no offline cache for file previews.
Screenshot this
WhatsApp = the headline.
Files App = the proof.
Same path the agent uses tomorrow.
The file path in the WhatsApp message is not a suggestion — it is where tomorrow's duty starts.
Your agents already saved the file
Open the Files App on your phone and see it — free to start, no credit card.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I find my agent's files in my iPhone's Files app (Apple)?
Apple's Files app shows iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, and connected cloud accounts. CloudAxis agent files live on your isolated cloud computer, accessed through the CloudAxis PWA's Files App — not mixed into iOS system storage. Open CloudAxis from your home screen → bottom dock → Files. That is the correct file manager for agent output.
Can I edit a CSV on my phone and have the agent use it the next morning?
Yes. Open the CSV in CloudAxis Files App, edit cells inline, tap Save. The agent's next duty opens the same path — ~/files/reports/competitor-prices-2026-07-21.csv — and reads your corrected version. Do not edit a downloaded copy in Excel and expect the agent to see it; edits must happen in place inside CloudAxis.
What happens to files larger than 100MB on mobile?
The Files App skips inline preview and offers a download instead. The full file remains on your cloud computer at the original path; the agent can still read it server-side. For your phone, either download over WiFi or read the WhatsApp summary for the highlights and open the full export on desktop later.
How do I get agent files onto my phone's camera roll or Photos app?
Preview the image in CloudAxis Files App (PNG, JPG, WEBP), tap Share, then Save Image (iOS) or save to gallery (Android). For CSVs and PDFs, use Share → email or message attachment, or Download and open from your browser's download folder.
Do agents still run and save files if my phone is off?
Yes. Duties run on your cloud computer on cron whether your phone is on, off, or in airplane mode. Files appear at their paths; WhatsApp summaries queue for delivery when your number is reachable. See do AI agents work when your phone is off for the full async model.
