Hire Your First Specialist

On the Free plan you can hire one Build-Your-Own specialist alongside Cloudia — describe the role you need, set its persona, choose its skills, and it appears under Team ready to work.

What “hiring” means here

Hiring a specialist creates a persistent AI teammate scoped to a role, rather than a one-off chat. It keeps its own name, persona, and skill set, and you can assign it duties, message it directly, or have Cloudia route work to it.

What Free includes

The Free plan gives you Cloudia plus one Build-Your-Own specialist, two scheduled duties, and 100 credits a month. Preset specialist templates beyond that one custom slot require a paid plan — see pricing for what each tier unlocks.

Describing the role

Start from the outcome, not the job title. Instead of “marketing person,” describe what the specialist should actually do — “draft and schedule three social posts a week from my blog RSS feed” gives a specialist enough to work from, while “help with marketing” does not. You can describe the role directly to Cloudia and let her draft the specialist, or build it yourself from a blank form.

What a persona is

A persona is the specialist's name, tone, and short description of its remit — it is how the specialist introduces itself in chat and how you tell it apart from your other specialists at a glance. A persona does not change what a specialist is allowed to do; skills and autonomy settings control that.

Choosing skills

Skills are the concrete abilities you switch on for a specialist — things like browsing the web, editing files, or reading a connected app through the Launchpad. Pick only what the role needs: a research specialist needs browsing and search, not calendar access. Fewer skills means fewer surprises and a more predictable specialist. Some skills only work once the matching integration is connected in the Launchpad.

Tip: You can add or remove skills after hiring — start narrow and expand once you have seen the specialist run a few times.

Where it appears

Once created, the specialist shows up under Team alongside Cloudia. From there you can open its chat, review its duties, adjust its persona or skills, and see its recent runs. Everything a specialist does stays attached to its own record, so results from different specialists do not get mixed together.
