What Shipped This Week: Apps Turn On in Chat

You tell Cloudia to draft in Gmail or pull a competitor page in Browser. Before this week, she sometimes enabled the skill and then went quiet — you had to send the same request again. Now the app turns on in that same turn, Connect appears only when an account is missing, and Browser no longer dead-ends when it was already on.

Two fixes matter if you hire specialists through chat: Cloudia wires the Launchpad app you asked for without making you repeat yourself, and phone Browser finally clicks where the on-screen arrow points. The stall where Browser was already enabled but Cloudia still asked you to turn it on — with no button — is gone.

Cloudia turns on the app you asked for in the same chat turn

The old loop looked like this: you asked Cloudia to check a pricing page or send a follow-up from your inbox. She replied that Browser or Email needed to be enabled, sometimes dropped a skill-offer card, and then stopped. You typed the same instruction again — or gave up because the Enable card never appeared for apps Cloudia treats as core.

This week the dashboard and API treat a skill offer as a promise, not a homework assignment. Apps that need no account connection — web search, code execution, files — enable and run in the same turn. Email, calendar, and social enable too; if OAuth is missing, Connect opens inline and Cloudia keeps going without asking you to resend the original request.

That matters because CloudAxis is an agent OS, not a settings maze. Specialists only work when the right Launchpad apps are on. Cloudia is supposed to be the builder who flips those switches while you describe outcomes. Losing a turn to "please enable Browser" — especially when Browser was already on — burned the same minutes you were trying to buy back with scheduled duties. We wrote about wiring integrations in connecting accounts to the agent OS.

The Browser edge case was the worst: Cloudia insisted you enable Browser, but the UI hides Enable cards for core apps she already owns. You saw text telling you to click a button that did not exist. When browser tools are already on, she now says so, retries the turn against the real site work, and shows Continue instead of a ghost card.

What we are watching next: how often first-time hires still bounce at Connect versus finishing the duty setup in one sitting.

What's next

We are measuring how many Cloudia threads complete a first duty setup without a second user message after a skill offer — especially Email and Browser on Free accounts with two cron slots.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need to connect Gmail before Email duties run?

Yes — OAuth is required. The change is that Cloudia opens Connect in the same turn and does not make you repeat the original request after you link the account.
